Substitute Teacher
Johnny helps a burglar on a crime spree after being convinced that he is the substitute teacher for his karate class.
Writer: Michael Ryan
Director: John McIntyre
Cast: Jeff Bennett, Mark Hamill, Dee Baker, Mark Klastorin
This was the first time I ever got to work with Mark Hamill. Like for so many people, he’s an icon, and I didn’t want to geek out. He couldn’t have been nicer and after the initial geekiness, it was just like working with any other actor. Except it was Luke Skywalker.
Wolf in Chick’s Clothing
Johnny gets a date with a beautiful woman who turns out to be a werewolf.
Writer: Butch Hartman
Director: Butch Hartman
Cast: Jeff Bennett, Xander Berkeley, Anne Bloom
Since there was no IMDB at the time, I only knew of Xander as the villain on Air Force One. Donna Grillo recommended him because he was this talented and attractive guy who was an amazing character actor. It’s amazing because, ever since he came on the show, I started to see him in every TV show and movie in some character part. When “24” first aired, I had the pleasure of saying that I worked with George Mason from CTU.
Intensive Care
Johnny and Bunny Bravo visit Little Suzy at the hospital after she has her tonsils taken out. Things take a turn when the good looking nurse shows up. Unfortunately for Johnny, he must first get past the large orderly to get Nurse Amberly’s affection.
Writer: Michael Ryan
Director: Rumen Petkov
Cast: Jeff Bennett, Maurice LaMarche, Brenda Vaccaro, Mae Whitman, Maureen McCormick
Maureen McCormick was supposed to come in at 11:00 the morning of the record, but she ended up showing up an hour early. She said that she was a bit bummed because she could’ve gotten in a little bit of Christmas shopping before the record if she knew. Knowing that, I invited her to come with me around the studio and shop amongst the offices of the employees. So for the next hour, we traveled from office to office, seeing if anybody had any schwagg they wanted to give to Maureen. We ended up with a banker’s box full of toys and miscellaneous items, which she said was much more fun than regular Christmas shopping. She even stopped by a birthday party celebration for one of our artists, Alex Kirwan, to wish him a happy birthday and take pictures with people. All I have to say is, Maureen is the best!
